Personal and shared finances

Track your spending, share it with your partner and follow your instalments and investments in one place

Expenses is a free web app for keeping your money in check: note where it goes, share household expenses with your partner or your flatmate, and see your card instalments and your investments without opening five different spreadsheets.

No app-store downloads: it installs from the browser and works offline too.

All your money, in a single app

Shared expenses

Create a space with the person you share expenses with —your partner, your flatmate— and both log every purchase there. You both see the same list, the month's total and who logged each expense, so nobody has to piece together at the end of the month where the household money went.

Credit cards and instalments

Log your instalment purchases once and track how many are left to pay and how much they'll weigh on the coming statements. It's how you know how much money is already committed before adding one more purchase.

Investments

Log your positions and see how each one is performing alongside the rest of your finances. Savings stop being a separate tab and become part of the same picture as your spending.

File import

If you were already keeping your expenses in a spreadsheet, there's no need to re-enter them by hand: they import in bulk from a file and land in whichever space you choose.

Biometric lock

Your numbers sit behind your fingerprint or your face. You can stay signed in on your phone without anyone who picks it up off the table seeing what you earn and what you spend.

Works offline

Installed as an app, Expenses opens and shows your data even underground or with no signal. It's a PWA: small, self-updating, and not tied to any app store.

How it works

  1. Create your account

With your email or straight through Google. We don't ask for card details or access to your bank.

  2. Set up a space

A space holds the expenses you share with one other person: your home, your relationship, a trip for two. You can have several —one with each person— and switch between them.

  3. Log expenses and see the month

Note each expense with its category. Expenses shows you the month's summary, where the money goes and what's coming in instalments.

Who it's for

  • Couples who put money towards the same things and want to know how the split lands without arguing about it every time.
  • Flatmates and trips for two who want everything spent on the home or the trip in a single list, without chasing receipts.
  • Anyone managing their own finances who needs to see the month's spending, the outstanding instalments and their savings on the same screen.

Frequently asked questions

How do I share expenses with my partner or my flatmate?

You create a space and send the other person the link on WhatsApp or by email; if they don't use Expenses yet, they create their account from that same link. From then on you both log what you pay in the same list and see the month's total and who logged each expense. How to split it is up to you —fifty-fifty or by what each of you earns— and the blog has a proportional expense calculator for that.

Is it useful for tracking credit card instalments?

Yes. The finance section is built for exactly that: you log the purchase with its number of instalments and Expenses shows you how many are left and how they spread across the coming months, so you can see how much of your next statement is already committed.

Is it free?

Yes. Creating an account and using the app costs nothing, there's no paid tier with locked features and there are no ads. You don't have to enter card details to sign up either.

Do I have to install anything?

It isn't required: it runs in your computer's and your phone's browser. If you want, you can install it from that same browser and it sits on your home screen like any other app, without going through Google Play or the App Store.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. Once installed it keeps a local copy, so it opens and lets you check your data even when you lose signal. Changes sync when the connection comes back.

Does it connect to my bank?

No. Expenses doesn't ask for your online banking credentials and doesn't touch your accounts: you enter the expenses yourself, by hand or by importing a file. Nothing you write down leaves the space of the people you share it with.

Can I use it in Argentina and in pesos?

Yes. The app is built in Argentina and shows amounts in the local format, so the figures read the way you'd write them.
